Read more about this time of prayer and fasting from the Diocese of Lansing:

Bishop Earl Boyea is calling upon all Catholics within the Diocese of Lansing to observe a day of prayer and fasting upon Wednesday, December 1, as the US Supreme Court hears oral arguments in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which could, Deo volente, hasten the end of Roe v. Wade and legalized abortion in the United States.

“Bishop Boyea’s announcement of a day of prayer and fasting is wonderful news as the campaign to abolish abortion is, at root, a spiritual battle between a civilization of love and a culture of death,” said Jenny Ingles, Director of Fertility and Life Ministries for the Diocese of Lansing, November 19.

“Hence we need to employ spiritual means in order to finally prevail and win victory for the unborn, their mothers, fathers, families and the common good of all in the United States.”

This case before the Supreme Court on December 1 is a challenge to Mississippi’s Gestational Age Act, which prohibits all abortions, with few exceptions, after 15 weeks. In order to uphold the democratically approved law, the State of Mississippi is seeking to overturn the two historic legal decisions which underpin America’s current abortion regime: Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992)

[Jesus] said to them, "This kind can only come out through prayer and fasting." - Mk 9:29

On December 1st, join others around the diocese in prayer and fasting surrounding the Dobbs case. Oral arguments begin at 10am. Specifically, we are asking everyone to pray for the Supreme Court Justices, that the Holy Spirit will guide the proceedings and that the Court will find that there is no fundamental right to abortion found in the US Constitution. Also, for the unborn to be recognized as Constitutional Persons and for peace and healing.
