“kNOw” how to identify, counter, and report harmful behavior
Parents with Students in Grades K-8th:
We are pleased to announce that, in partnership with the Diocese of Lansing, we are adopting a new program for the safety of our children. The kNOw Program is designed to equip children, parents and guardians, schools and parishes with the tools to “kNOw” how to identify, counter, and report harmful behavior.
This programs relies on the fundamental truth that each child is created and loved by God Himself and deserves to be safe and cared for. This is a life skill for our children.
The kNOw Program has FOUR goals:
∙ To help children and their parents kNOw how to identify and talk about safe, respectful behaviors and situations.
∙ To help children kNOw how to identify and talk about behaviors and situations that are not safe.
∙ To help adults appropriately respond to children’s concerns about being unsafe and/or disrespected.
∙ To inspire Christian communities to greater integrity and authenticity in creating unfailingly safe environments for children.
One important key ingredient of the kNOw Program that sets us apart from all the other programs is the adult participation; the key adults in children’s lives. To keep our children safe and deter predators, we want to educate adults in how to identify and respond to signs of abuse and reports of harm. Because of this, children and their parents and guardians participate together in the kNOw Program.
The program will be offered at Resurrection on the following dates and times. All families are invited and encouraged to attend. The presentations are extremely similar but the vocabulary is altered for the lower grades.

Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 6pm in Mercy Hall OR Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 6pm in Mercy Hall
♦ Families with young MEN in Grades 6-8 (Parent and child both attend)
Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 6pm in JPII Room
♦ Families with young WOMEN in Grades 6-8 (Parent and child both attend)
Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 6pm in JPII Room
